Quest Diagnostics supports RSSDI’s World Diabetes Day event in Delhi

On the occasion of World Diabetes Day on November 14, thousands of Delhiites participated in the Walk for Diabetes and availed of free health check-ups in various parts of the capital including Rohini, Malviya Nagar, Rajouri Garden, Green Park, Old Rajender Nagar, New Rajender Nagar, GTB Hospital Shahdara, Janakpuri, Chittaranjan Park and Faridabad. The event was organized by Delhi Chapter of Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI), which supported the motto of International Diabetes Federation (IDF), “Act On Diabetes, Now”.

Dr. Sumit Dutta, India Vice President and General Manager of Quest Diagnostics, the world’s leading pathology laboratory, RSSDI Delhi Chapter’s Hony. Chairman Dr. Rajeev Chawla and Hony. Secretary, Dr. BM Makkar addressed the public awareness event on Diabetes at Rohini’s Swarna Jayanti Park in the capital. When United Nations declared 14 Nov as World Diabetes Day in 2007, there were about 40 million cases of diabetes in India. Today, that number has grown to 51 million, and is expected to touch 79 million by 2030.
