New ODI jersey for team India

Everything associated with Cricket in India has to be top notch, expansive and innovative and the Jersey is no exception. When Team India takes field in the 1st ODI of the 3 match series against the Aussies, we will see them in a new avatar as Nike has unveiled a New Jersey. Wondering how a Jersey can be high-tech and innovative, read on to find out:

  • The new jersey is made entirely from recycled polyester, each one produced from up to eight recycled plastic bottles.
  • The new ODI kit is made from Nike’s proprietary DriFit Technology- ‘Denier Differential’ for superior moisture management. Yarns of different circumference are used on the face vis-a-vis the back to create increased surface area, resulting in an exceptional way to transport moisture through the fabric, keeping athletes cool and dry.
  • The Aerographic print on the back panel along high sweat zones enhances cooling while increasing aesthetics. The ‘Gusset’ construction based on body motion analysis allows for maximum flexibility and stretch for the athletes
  • Ventilation zones, with upto 200 tiny laser cut holes, are placed on each side of the jersey to enhance breathability and are combined with a fabric that increases air flow by upto seven per cent compared to previous kits. Air can now pass across a player’s whole torso, keeping him cooler.

Don’t worry, I also do not understand the detailing one bit. To put it in layman’s terms, the entire kit is designed in such a way that the players feel drier, cooler and more comfortable than ever before and also the kit is manufactured from recycled materials, making it environmental friendly.

To know more about the Jersey, one can buy it from Nokia stores and leading multi-brand retail stores across the country. Meanwhile, Team India will try to emulate the success in the Test series where they clean swept Aussies 2-0. However, both India and Australia have rested their key players and given the youngsters a chance. Hence, it would be more a test of India’s next v/s Australia’s next, rather than India’s best v/s Australia’s best. Before the World Cup 2011, this may well be the last chance for the newcomers to prove their worth and put themselves into contention for the mega event.

After the 1st ODI at Kochi, the 2nd and 3rd ODI’s would be held at Visakhapatnam and Goa on 20th and 24th October. Let the series begin…
