While Clijsters and Venus have already progressed to Round 3, the No 1 seed Wozniacki will play her Round 2 match today. The other seeds have also progressed without much trouble thus far.

While there have been no real upsets in the Women’s draw, there has been one major injury pullout in No 10 seed Victoria Azarenka, who retired injured in her Round 2 match against unseeded Gisela Dulko.

Indian Challenge:

Sania Mirza lost in Round 2 against No 20 seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in straight sets. Sania had qualified for the US Open after coming through the Qualifying rounds and also won her Round 1 match in straight sets. But the No 20 seed was too good for Sania Mirza.
