Plastic stronger than Steel

Plastic stronger than stainless steel

You might be astonished beyond limit, but this is true. Plastic could be stronger than stainless steel. Scientists have developed this new kind of plastic from opaque titanium and zirconium.

Scientists at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, California, US, has developed this new kind of plastic. It is interesting to note that application of this newly developed plastic has wide range.

Maimilien Launey, scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, said: “The problem with most glass is that they have very bad fatigue resistance. What we’ve done is introduce a second phase that is able to improve the fatigue resistance. Now, it’s as good as other high-strength alloys like steel.”

The research based on plastic is getting stronger and stronger and there are lots of issues that scientists are addressing. This one will surely make a great discovery if the applicability of this plastic is found suitable to various applications.
